Highlights of This Release

Installation instructions
=========================
1.  Ensure that you have Passport version 4.1 or greater installed on your
    system.  For common platforms, the latest Passport software can be 
    obtained from www.dynamic.com or ftp.dynamic.com.

2.  Login as 'root'.

3.  Copy the distribution file to any temporary directory on your system, e.g.
    "/tmp".

4.  If the distribution file has a ".Z" extension, uncompress the file using 
    the command "uncompress filename.Z".  If the file has an extension of
    ".z", rename the file with an uppercase "Z" before uncompressing the
    file.

5.  Unpack the distribution file using the command "cpio -imcdu <filename".
    If an error message occurs, try using the command "cpio -imdu <filename"
    or "cpio -imduHodc <filename".

6.  Type "./install".

7.  Delete the distribution file or move it to a backup directory.

8.  To run dL4 programs opening the driver as "$dynpaper", the PATH environment
    variable needs to be set to find the driver by adding "/usr/lib/dynpaper"
    to PATH.  This can be done with the shell command:

            $ PATH=/usr/lib/dynpaper:$PATH export PATH

    executed before running scope or by having it in the .profile file for the
    user.  For UniBasic programs, the LUST environment variable must also be 
    set to include the path for dynpaper.

9.  Read the DynamicPaper User Guide for specific information on the $dynpaper 
    API and additional configuration options and requirements.  For information
    on licensing JetPCL for production use, see the JetPclDP.pdf file in
    the /usr/lib/dynpaper/JetPCL directory.  JetPCL activation keys must be
    defined as the JETPCLKEY environment variable in the dynpaper script.

Jun  5, 2019 (Maintenance Release 1.4.1)

o   The JetPCL components have been updated to the current version for
    the Linux platforms (36,64, 66, and 6D).

Mar 30, 2011 (Release 1.4)

o   JetPCL has been updated to version 9.

o   Adds support for color.  Note that color is not supported in PDF output.

o   The makeforms utility now supports using the Hewlett Packard LaserJet 2200
    driver to create forms on Windows 7.

o   The makeforms utility now deletes any PJL code in a form file to improve
    performance on some printers.  If needed, the new "-j" option can be used
    to leave the PJL code in the form file.

o   A new, "-g", option has been added to the makeforms utility to support
    using any PCL printer driver.  The "-g" option should be used if makeforms
    otherwise creates forms that do not produce the expected results.

o   PDF creation errors are now displayed in the DPerrors file rather than
    the separate jetout and jeterror files.  The jetout and jeterror files
    are no longer used.

o   The DXCODEDIR environment variable is now supported for use with
    DynamicXport archiving.

o   Bug fixed: the makeforms utility did not work with filenames where the
    second character was an 'h' or an 'H'.

o   Bug fixed: the dynpaper "p=printer" option was ignored.

o   Bug fixed: the rf= option did not work on multipage documents.

o   Bug fixed: an address violation occurred if the input file was empty.

Nov  9, 2005 (Release 1.3)

o   Adds example of application using driver for direct emailing via dpmail.

o   Adds cpi, lpi, and ppi open parameters for driver.
  
o   Adds dpmail program called from dynpaper to email pdf output and has
    optional interactive parameter input with GUI.


Notes
=====
o   Like other Dynamic Concepts products for Unix, DynamicPaper requires
    a functioning Passport daemon to license the system, and an SSN specific
    to that license number to authorize use of the software.  In the absence
    of SSN authorization, demo mode is invoked.

    DynamicPaper requires dl4 release 6 and at least version 4.1 of the
    Passport daemon program in order to run. And as of this writing the
    current version of the Passport software is 4.4.  Version 4.4 is fully
    upward-compatible with previous Passport versions and with all other
    Dynamic Concepts products.  If you attempt to run with a daemon older
    than 4.1, you will see messages such as:

        Waiting for response from security daemon ...

    and eventually an exit.

    The Passport software is now distributed by Dynamic Concepts as a 
    separate installable product.  For many platforms, you can download the 
    latest version of the Passport from the Dynamic Concepts web site, 
    www.dynamic.com, or ftp site, ftp.dynamic.com.
